Children's Act Trinidad and Tobago |
The Children's Act defines a child to mean any person under the age of eighteen years |
Sexual Offences Act of Trinidad and Tobago |
S.13 of the Sexual Offences Act criminalizes consensual sexual relations or practices between two young males over the age of consent. However, with respect to women, there is no legislation that points to the state criminalizing sexual relations among them if they are over the age of consent. As of May 18th, 2015 the age of consent has changed from sixteen years of age to eighteen years of age. This is stipulated in the Children's Act since the definition of 'child' is any person under the age of eighteen years, and a child not permitted under the law to consent to sexual relations or practices. As such, once a young female is over the age of eighteen, she can have consensual sexual relations or practices. S.23 criminalizes persons living on earnings of prostitution |
